The Last Lumin

For my 3D exam in 2021, I sought to demonstrate my newfound knowledge and proficiency in 3D design through the use of Blender. I had the creative freedom to choose the product I wanted to craft and determine the concept or message it would convey. My choice was to develop 3D illustrations for a fictitious game concept.

To create an exceptional gaming experience, I recognized the importance of defining the product's intended audience and the narrative it would convey to them. The target demographic I had in mind encompassed gamers who relish story-driven games, and my aim was to appeal to both teens and young adults. Consequently, I embarked on constructing an inviting, captivating game environment, one that could serve as an enticing advertising poster on platforms like Steam and various social media channels.

The game's central theme revolves around the critical issue of global warming, with a specific emphasis on the alarming phenomenon of desertification. Desertification is a profound consequence of global warming, driven by the changing weather patterns resulting from climate change. This widespread problem leads to the expansion of deserts, resulting in the loss of arable land and wildlife habitats. Inhabitability in these dry regions becomes increasingly challenging.

Regrettably, the United Nations has expressed concerns that desertification could displace a staggering 50 million people from their homes over the next decade. The game serves as a poignant and compelling medium to convey a vital message: it offers a glimpse into the potential future of our planet if we fail to address these critical issues. Through immersive storytelling and gameplay, it endeavors to inspire change by raising awareness about the devastating consequences of global warming and the urgent need for collective action.

Storyline

The planet Lumin was once a thriving, serene haven teeming with lush nature and untamed wilderness. Its inhabitants, the Lumins, were intelligent and skilled architects, living in harmonious coexistence as they nurtured their world's growth and advancement. Yet, like many civilizations before them, they too succumbed to the pernicious force that had wrought havoc on countless worlds – greed.

Corrupted by this insidious vice, the Lumins were unwittingly led down a treacherous path, ultimately becoming the agents of their own destruction. They laid waste to the very world they had solemnly pledged to protect. Today, Lumin stands as a desolate wasteland, shrouded in sand and silence, bearing only the somber remnants of a paradise that once thrived and the spectral echoes of its past glory.
